The Duck's New Home

So earlier today, Marley comes walking into my room smiling, with her hands behind her back. Her smile gets bigger as she approaches. It's always a little scary to try and picture what might be behind her back. Luckily, it was nothing. I felt relieved. She gives me the biggest sweetest hug. Being the not so experienced mother I am, this does not alarm me, after all there was nothing behind her back so nothing is up right??
WRONG.

I see her shoes she has left in my room and I tell her to go put them up in her room. She does and I go on about my business. She then comes back to my room and says, "I'm sorry I got my shoes wet." I asked her if she made a mess in her room. Yes, she did. But we have always told her if she comes and tells us she won't get in trouble (or at least as much). I think I need to place an emphasis on not as much as opposed to not at all. I think the not at all rule is about to go out the window.

She has spilled her water bottle in her floor in her bedroom. This is not a big deal, it will come up. However, it looks as though she has played in it because it is a rather long spill. Walter comes home right as I am trying to clean it up. I'm trying not to be to hard on her while at the same time letting her know that playing in it is NOT appropriate. He thinks it's funny because of the way she is acting and telling him, "Mama is not happy with me."

Anyway, no big deal, water is cleaned up and we move on.

I'm cleaning the kitchen and I find this teeny tiny duck. I take it to Marley and I ask her where she got it. She says, "from the squishy I busted." (She has busted/burst? more than one of the water filled squishies) Well I go back to the kitchen and here she comes a few minutes later with a plastic spoon holding the duck. The spoon is wet. She says, "I found the duck a new home." (Ok, even this inexperienced mother knows this could be very bad) I say, "Where did you get the water!!??" All the while I'm thinking about how I am going to have to ban her from the bathroom. We walk back to her room and her cash register drawer that is on her play kitchen is filled with water. Apparently this morning during the "spill" she poured some in it.

She puts her duck down in it. She's very proud because well she found her duck a new home. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET MAD AT THAT??? Welcome home, duck.
